Reviews about Lady Baltimore Floors

  • November 06, 2019, by Jared S
I'll start by saying my floors look great. The WATER-BASED buff & coat was more than enough to get my floors looking clean. As nice as my floors look, I don't think I'll be dealing with Lady Baltimore ever again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. Here is a list of the things I didn't like about this company: First - the receptionist, as nice as she was, she was a bit unorganized and got my address wrong. The guy coming out for the estimate had to have his wife call me to find out where it was. Not a big deal, but a nice tip for things to come. Second - the guy who did the estimate answered a phone call from a customer he claims he barely gets a hold of, right there in the middle of giving me an estimate. He spoke to him for about 15 minutes in my house. Not that I'm some snobby high-class dude or anything, but I just felt like this was rude. He could have at least gone outside so I wouldn't have heard him B.S. with the dude for a few minutes instead of saying "hey I'm at a clients house right now, mind if we finish this convo later?" Third - the guy who did the estimate was very pushy with completely sanding my original, in-laid hardwood floors, and then coating them with the oil based coating. I had to repeat myself about 3 times til he understood that I only wanted a buff and coat, with the WATER-BASED coating. Water-based does not have fumes going through your house, and it takes less time to dry. The results are practically the same, according many Internet people. Their website even discusses the differences between the two, and they even seem to favor the water-based coat, yet they push the oil-based. I don't get it. Fourth - I only knew which day the guy was coming to clean my floors, I didn't know what time. I was told to call early in the morning to find out. IMO this is kind of ridiculous. I'm paying quite a bit and I still have to call to find out my appointment time, even after I made the appointment? The alarm company, furniture delivery team, Comcast, and the carpet people all had specific times for the appointment a week in advance. They even called to let me know they were on their way. Why can't Lady Baltimore just give me a call 30 - 60 min prior to showing up? Fifth - as nice as the guy, who did the cleaning, was, he didn't vacuum or at least cover the parts of the house that would accumulate all the dust from the buffing. My walls, stairs, and radiators had a nice layer of wood-dust. I'd like to think that not too much of it got into my kitchen. I've never had floors done before so I can't say for sure if most companies will vacuum afterwards, but in either case, this was annoying. Additionally, he never opened a window or at least turned on my ceiling fan while the floors were drying. Not sure if that's common or not, but it's weird either way. Sixth - price is a little high IMO. Should have got a second or third quote. Again, I reiterate, my floors look great. I understand that when you buff and coat ONLY, you'll just get some of the shallow scratches up and dirt, and have a nice little shine to it afterwards. It won't look as good as a sanding. I'm OK with all of that. But between the price, and lack of quality in the process and service, I feel I have made the wrong choice in signing with this company to do my floors. I wouldn't say I regretted choosing Lady Baltimore, but I definitely learned my lesson.
